If you follow me on Instagram you know that I have just spent a couple of days in Finland.
On an island. In a wooden hut. Without running water or electricity. How lucky it gets dark very late this time of year. 🙂
It was the loveliest (and very much needed) mini holiday, with lots of time to rummage around the forest, pick blueberries, collect chanterelles, lay on the warm stones, go swimming, eat good basic food, play cards…well, you get where I’m headed: Simply relax!
And of course my knitting stuff came along as well. One afternoon I sat on top of the hill and knitted with the most gorgeous view. Never tried anything like it before. That was one of those knitting-is-my-yoga kind of moments. A bit cheesy, I know – but that’s really what it felt like! 🙂
And my boyfriend had even brought me a woollen souvenir from his sailing trip through the Finnish archipelago. No idea on which of the islands he bought it, no idea what the yardage is. The only information I got from him was that the nice farmer lady he bought it from produced it from her own sheep and that is was wool only (and a nice colour as well). 🙂

Falls du mir auf Instagram folgst, weißt du ja bereits, dass ich gerade ein paar Tage in Finnland verbracht habe. Auf einer Insel. In einer Holzhütte. Ohne fließendes Wasser und Elektrizitet. Was für ein Glück, dass es in dieser Jahreszeit sehr spät dunkel wird. 🙂
Es war ein toller (und dringend gebrauchter) Kurzurlaub mit massig Zeit um im Wald herumzulaufen, Heidelbeeren zu pflücken, Pfifferlinge zu sammeln, auf von der Sonne gewärmten Steinen rumzuliegen, schwimmen zu gehen, gutes einfaches Essen zu machen, Karten zu spielen…du siehst schon wo dies hinführt, oder? Wir haben einfach nur entspannt!
Und natürlich war mein Strickzeug auch mit dabei. Einen Nachmittag habe ich auf dem Hügel gesessen und gestrickt – mit der tollsten Aussicht! Sowas hatte ich bis dahin noch nie probiert. Das war so ein Stricken-ist-mein-Yoga Moment. Ich weiß, das hört sich ein bisschen bescheuert an, aber es war tatsächlich so. 🙂
Und mein Freund hatte mir sogar ein Souvenir von seinem Segeltrip durch das finnische Inselmeer mitgebracht: Zwei Garnknäuel ordentliche dicke Wolle. Keine Ahnung, auf welcher Insel er die bekommen hat, keine Ahnung, was die Lauflänge ist. Die einzige Information, die ich aus ihm rausbekommen konnte war, dass er sie von einer netten Bäuerin gekauft hat, die die Wolle von ihren eigenen Schafen hergestellt hat und dass es reine Wolle ist (und eine tolle Farbe natürlich). 🙂
