One Skein, One Cowl – Ein Wollknäuel, ein Loop

As you probably have noticed by now: I am on a mission to knit up my stash of wool – at least I’m having a go at it.

 Lots of leftovers and quite a bunch of single skeins – what to do? Well, in this case Ravelry is your best friend. So therefore here my first suggestion for a one-skein-project: 
 
Abi Gregorio’s free “Drop Stitch Cowl” pattern
A quick knit, very easy and very comfortable and warm to wear.

I happened to have a spare skein of Drops Eskimo, which was just perfect for this cowl. 

And gone is yet another skein!

Wie du sicher bereits bemerkt hast arbeite ich dieses Jahr hart daran, meinen Wollberg zu verstricken – oder zumindest versuche ich es. 

Viele Wollreste und einige einzelne Wollknäuel – was tun? Nun ja, Ravelry ist in dieser Lage dein bester Freund. Hier ist jedenfalls nun mein erster Vorschlag für ein “Ein-Wollknäuel-Projekt”: 

Abi Gregorio’s “Drop Stitch Cowl” Anleitung (leider nur auf Englisch erhältlich).

Strickt sich flux, ist sehr einfach und ist super angenehm zu tragen.
Ich hatte zufällig ein Wollknäuel von Drops Eskimo übrig, das perfekt zu dieser Anleitung passte.

Und schwupps, wieder ist ein Wollkäuel verschwunden!

Wristwarmers for an Active Man – Pulswärmer für den aktiven Mann

Mr. Man wished for wristwarmers for when he is working outdoors in spring and autumn. His wish is my command – at least when I find his wishes for knitted/crocheted accessories compelling enough.

I chose to crochet a pair (without pattern) and the result is a rather oddly shaped pair of wristwarmers that fit his hands perfectly and are thick and warm. Customer happy – me happy.

(Am I wrong or do they have a slight resemblence with pacman?)

Der Herr des Hauses hatte sich vor einiger Zeit Pulswärmer gewünscht für wenn er im Frühling und Herbst draußen arbeiten muss. Sein Wunsch ist mir Befehl – zumindest wenn ich seine Wünsche für gestrickte/gehäkelte Accessoires spannend genug finde.

Da habe ich ihm doch glatt ein Paar gehäkelt (wohlgemerkt ohne Anleitung) und das Resultat ist ein etwas seltsam geformtes Paar Pulswärmer, die ihm perfekt passen und die ziemlich dick und warm sind. Kunde zufrieden – ich zufrieden.

(Meine ich das nur, oder ähneln sie Pacman ein wenig?)

Rainbow Loop – Regenbogenloop

Those of you who follow me on Instagram know that I’ve been raving about this handspun rainbow-coloured yarn from OnTheRound for a while now.

Well, the other day the yarn was on sale and what can I say? Suddenly there was no reason anymore to not buy it. I ordered two skeins, found this lovely pattern on Fiber Flux, adapted the pattern a little in size and in the course of two evenings (it can be done in one!) this lovely snood emerged.

I’m very pleased with the texture and the colours. Now I just hope the little girl I made this loop for will be just as pleased.

Diejenigen von euch, die mir auf Instagram folgen, wissen, dass ich bereits seit einger Zeit ganz begeistert von dem Regenbogengarn von OnTheRound bin.

Nun ja, letztens war es im Angebot und dann gab es natürlich keinen Grund mehr, nicht zuzuschlagen. Ich bestellte also zwei Knäuel, fand diese tolle Anleitung bei Fiber Flux, änderte die Maschenanzahl ein wenig und im Laufe von zwei Abenden (kann man auch locker an einem schaffen) war dieser tolle Loop fertig.

Die Struktur und die Farben sind einfach klasse. Jetzt hoffe ich bloß, dass das kleine Mädchen für das der Loop gedacht ist, genauso begeistert sein wird.

A Dress for the French Press – Ein Kleid für die Stempelkanne

Today it’s time to celebrate my birthday (a little belatedly). There’ll be plenty of German creamy cake (e.g. Frankfurter Kranz and the classical Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte and of course lots of coffee as well.

And look what I quickly fixed yesterday (excellent little project to use some of your left-over wool!).

Heute wird ein etwas verspätetes Geburtstags-Kaffeekränzchen gehalten. Natürlich gibt’s Frankfurter Kranz und die klassische Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte und der Kaffee darf da selbstverständlich auch nicht fehlen.

Und schau mal, was ich gestern Abend noch schnell gestrickt habe (tolles Miniprojekt, um Restwolle zu verwerten!).

It’s a Beanie! – Es ist ‘ne Mütze!

Well, having decided to reduce my stash of wool to make space for some new pretty yarns in my pirate chest, I’ve decided to have another New Year’s resolution:
To make more stuff myself or in other words: To finally design things myself.

And I have started already: A little simple beanie to figure out what the proportions are. Stockinette stitch most of it. Easy peasy, done in one evening (including having to rip half of it again, because it was too little at first) and extremely satisfying to put on.

This will be the perfect beanie to wear when biking to/from work with music in my (now warm) ears. 🙂

Nun ja, da ich ja beschlossen habe, meinen Haufen Wolle stark zu reduzieren, um wieder Platz für neue tolle Wolle in meiner Piratenkiste zu machen, hatte ich gleichzeitig einen zweiten Neujahrsvorsatz:
Mehr Sachen selber zu machen. Beziehungsweise endlich meine eigenen Dinge zu designen.

Und ich habe bereits damit angefangen: Eine kleine einfache Mütze, um ein Gefühl für die Proportionen zu bekommen. Das meiste ist Glattstrick. Total einfach, an einem Abend gestrickt (und das ist inklusive der Zeit, die es brauchte, die Hälfte nochmal aufzurippeln, weil’s doch ein kleines bisschen klein war) und gibt ein tolles Gefühl der Genugtuung, sie aufzusetzen. 

Diese Mütze wird perfekt sein für meine täglichen Fahrradtouren zur/von der Arbeit mit Musik in meinen (jetzt warmen) Ohren. 🙂

New Year’s Resolutions – Gute Vorsätze für’s neue Jahr

Usually I don’t do New Year’s resolutions but this year I simply have to. Why? Because my wool drawer is overflowing with left-over wool from former projects, wool that I inherited, wool that I just couldn’t resist to buy even though I did not have a specific project in mind yet and even though I did not exactly need even more wool. 


My boyfriend is complaining, too. He does not seem to have any understanding for why the stack of wool just keeps on growing. Well, he’s not totally wrong. 


So one of my two knitting-related New Year’s resolutions for 2014 has got to be:
Eliminate Considerably reduce my stack of wool. Good luck to me!

The other one has got to be that I would like to knit more of my own stuff, meaning using no patterns, but actually creating myself. I am excited already. 🙂

Normalerweise habe ich keine Neujahrsvorsätze. Man hält sich ja eh nicht dran. Aber dieses Jahr muss es einfach sein. Warum? Weil meine Wollschublade überläuft mit Restwolle von alten Strickprojekten, geerbter Wolle und natürlich der Klassiker: Wolle, an der man einfach nicht vorbeigehen konnte, obwohl man eigentlich nicht noch mehr Wolle braucht. 

Mein Freund beschwert sich auch schon. Er scheint nicht sonderlich viel Verständnis dafür zu haben, dass Wolle sich nun mal einmal vermehrt (ich bin sicher, ihr versteht mich, oder?!). Nun ja, ein bisschen Recht hat er ja.


Logischerweise muss deswegen einer meiner zwei Neujahrsvorsätze für 2014 folgender sein:
Der Stapel Wolle muss dieses Jahr ausgemerzt deutlich reduziert werden. Na, da bin ich ja mal gespannt.

Der zweite Vorsatz ist, weniger Anleitungen zu befolgen und mehr selber zu designen. Ich bin jetzt schon gespannt! 🙂

A Cutie Cardigan – Ein kleines süßes Jäckchen

My family-in-law has been increased by one little person again. How wonderful! And what a perfect reason to grab the knitting needles and fix up a quick little cardigan. Nearly done and ready for the little one. Now I just need to find some cute buttons.

Meine Schwiegerfamilie ist wieder um eine kleine Person gewachsen. Wie fantastisch! Und gibt einen besseren Grund, die Stricknadeln zu schwingen und ein kleines Miniaturjäckchen herzuzaubern? Fast fertig und klar für den kleinen. Jetzt müssen nur noch ein paar passende Knöpfe her.
