Little Fat Whale – Der kleine dicke Wal

On Instagram I have been teasing my followers with a little mystery project. I just showed them the three colours (white, blue and light pink), said that this was for my boyfriend and had them guess what it was. There were some good guesses, but most of all I received wondering questions like “Pink? For a guy? What could that possibly be?”.

Well, tadaaa, mystery revealed: It is a Whale Shark iPhone cover. I saw someone referring to the pattern someday way back in 2014, started laughing, my boyfriend got curious, came over to have a look and requested one for his iPhone. I stopped laughing: “Are you serious?”

Well, the man meant it and I was in the mood for a fun little side project. You could actually make this one in just a day. Easy peasy. But if you, like me, are not particularly fond of seaming, then it can take up to a couple of months to get it done. Well, it’s done now and it makes me laugh every time I look at it, BUT…

…the iPhone doesn’t fit into it. I think I stuffed it too much, but look just how cute and goofy it looks! It’s now lying on the bookshelf and makes me smile every time I walk by. Totally worth it!

Bei Instagram hab ich die lieben Leute, die netterweise bei mir mitgucken ein bisschen mit meinem mysterösen Projekt geärgert. Ich habe ihnen die drei verschiedenen Garne gezeigt (weiß, blau und rosa), hab sie wissen lassen, dass es für meinen Freund war und sie danach raten lassen, was es denn sein könnte. Es kamen ein paar gute Vorschläge, allerdings habe ich mehr Fragen à la “Rosa? Für’n Kerl? Was soll das denn werden?” bekommen.

Tadaaaa, jetzt ist’s fertig und es ist eine Walhai iPhone Hülle. Vor etlichen Monaten hatte jemand irgendwo im Netz die Anleitung verlinkt (leider nur auf Englisch), ich hab laut losgelacht, mein Freund wurde neugierig, schaute sich die iPhone Hülle an und bestellte eine während er noch immer auf den Bildschirm starrte. Damit hatte ich nicht gerechnet und wurde still. “Echt jetzt?”

Der Mann war sich sicher, eine Walhai iPhone Hülle musste her. Nun gut, ein kleines spaßiges Zwischenprojekt war mir recht. Man könnte diese Hülle locker an einem Tag fertig bekommen. Wenn man allerdings, wie ich, wirklich ungerne Enden vernäht, Nähte schließt etc., dann kann sich der Spaß auch schon mal über mehrere Monate hinausziehen. Nun gut, sie ist jetzt jedenfalls fertig und ich muss jedes Mal lachen wenn ich sie sehe. ABER…

…das blöde iPhone passt nicht rein! Ich glaub, ich hab den armen Wal etwas überstopft. Nun gut, er liegt jetzt auf dem Bücherregal und zaubert mir jedes Fall ein blödes Grinsen auf’s Gesicht wenn ich dran vorbeigehe. Das war’s wert!
